As part of an initiative to clean up and update all Myspace email notifications, I took an inventory created by a co-worker and created wireframes to standardize and streamline the formats, optimize the actions and improve the wording (working with a copywriter). I also pushed for best practices, such as adding the user’s name and the sender’s photo, to lessen likelihood that email would be classified as spam. Then I designed approximately 10 mockup templates for the resulting standard layouts, taking into consideration the limitations of HTML email while applying the new design standards for the upcoming site redesign. Assisted in creation of the HTML, ensuring maximum compatibility with major email clients and also that main message text and principle calls to action (i.e. buttons) would be clearly readable even if images were not loaded. Later we derived a basic email template from this project to serve as a starting point for all other types of external emails.
